Keep in mind, one herb might display different energetics depending on how it’s prepared — tinctures tend to be more cooling than hot tea preparations. They could also depend on what part of the herb is used, or even how the herb itself is prepared — hawthorn berries are warming, but the leaves and flowers are neutral; dried ginger is often hotter than fresh ginger. Additionally, energetics can manifest differently depending on the constitution of the person taking the herb. The energetics provided here are the most common presentations for each herb. See the Materia Medica page for detailed explanations of each herb.
